The Boss Babe Blog
Build your career without sacrificing your life.
For the past 48 hours, I have done nothing but work. I have been up all night and up all day working on a project that I seemed to be making NO lead-way on, but I finally have it completed. Enough of my woes and sorrows, I’m getting paid to do this kind of thing. You’re really here to figure out where the success within you is hiding, because I just told you that it’s there, and you’ve looked around for a couple minutes, and all you’re seeing in skin, bone, and if you’re lucky, maybe a little muscle in the mix of all that.
Anyway, back to what I was saying: Success is within YOU! It isn’t somewhere you can see or touch, and it isn’t going to show up on an X-Ray machine, but it is there, and it is waiting for you to unleash it. Now, I know that this post is starting to sound like something out of a B-rated action movie, but bear with me here. I’ve been working on a workbook that will accompany a motivational self-help book written by a motivational speaker. I’m not going to mention any names, as it was a ghost-writing project, but I will say that (thankfully) we are both happy with the finished product.
While I have been typing away at my pretty blue laptop, I came to the realization that this woman was right…success is inside all of us. We choose to be happy or upset. Obviously, no one chooses depression, but that is an entirely different matter as depression is a legitimate form of sickness (that I struggle with as well), while sadness is something you can choose to overcome if you really put your mind to it. The same concept would apply to envy, greed, hatred, anger, lust, disgust, confusion…and the list goes on. The emotions aren’t pleasant, but they also don’t have to be permanent. It’s truly up to you.
The first key to success is choosing to be positive. If you maintain a positive outlook on the world around you, then you’re less likely to make brash decisions, and more likely to stay focused on your long term goals; both of which are essential when you’re trying to maintain a business. Next up, you have to plan things out. No “ands, ifs, buts, or ors about it!” (P.S. I know that was cringingly grammatically incorrect, but it’s a cute little saying and I’m kind of tired. Have mercy, readers.) I have a horrible habit of NOT PLANNING MY DAY, because why should I? I also have a bad habit of wasting 2-3 hours on social media (not the promotional kind of social media, just “Oh! Look! A kitten with a ball of yarn!” kind of social media.) So, I guess I just answered my own question, am I right? Goofing off is not ideal for a business plan.
There were four keys to success in the book, but I’m only going to touch on three. I wouldn’t want to start wading in copyright infringements (God forbid). Last but not least (for this blog post) is you MUST surround yourself with positive people. If you’re constantly listening to your Aunt Sally complain about getting old, I guarantee you’re going to be feeling 50 and ready for a nap by the time you say “talk to you later”. Humans are pack animals just like dogs or elephants. You can call us “social creatures” if it makes you feel more humane. Either way, we like to be around other people. Even if we have social anxiety, we still crave some type of socialization…unless you are part of the 1% of our population that are sociopaths, but the chances are that you’re probably not that special. The moral of the story is to hang out with business-minded people, because you’ll end up becoming more business-minded, yourself.
Well, that’s about all I have for you tonight. Like I said at the beginning of this blog post, as well as several times in between, I am overworked right now. So, please forgive the cut-short, hurry-the-heck-up tone that this post has about it. If you’re interested in saving yourself some cash (Pay day tomorrow, WOOT WOOT!) just click the picture at the top of this article to be redirected! I found some GREAT deals for my readers that should help carry all of you through next week!
You may have heard of Green Coffee back in 2012 when Dr. Oz promoted it on his show. Green Coffee has exploded in the weight loss industry as a quick, safe, and effective way to lose weight. Multiples studies have shown that Green Coffee DOES have the ability to promote weight loss in most individuals.
If you're wondering how Green Coffee manages to work its magic, you need to be looking in the direction of chlorogenic acids. According to doctors at the Global Healing Center, Green Coffee uses these same acids as Green Tea and Grape Seed Oil to expel a number of health benefits. The best part for those of you that like your coffee decaf? Green Coffee has been proven to be LOW in caffeine, and is not even considered a stimulant. So, it may not be the best thing to kick-start your day, but it is effective in kick-starting your weight loss.
Aside from shedding a few pounds, Green Coffee can also help lower your blood pressure, balance your blood sugar levels, and boost your metabolism. If the capability to prevent fat absorption and aid in weight loss wasn't enough, I'm sure you can find something in that list that appeals to you and the goals that you have set for yourself.
I actually used Green Coffee pills for a couple of months at the beginning of the year. Even though it may seem odd, I personally felt as though the Green Coffee helped to relieve some of my stress and anxiety. I was able to lose 10 pounds in 2 months while taking this supplement. Of course, I continued my diet and exercise routine as normal. If you take this supplement the right way, and continue to take care of your body in other ways, this can be a very beneficial supplement to give you an extra boost.
There are a lot of good things about being famous, but there are a few not so good things too.
Everybody wants to be famous. Everybody wants their few seconds in the spotlight. If you're a social media addict like the majority of the population, you've probably wondered once or twice what it would be like to have 5,000 Facebook friends and just as many followers. You might have seen a popular post or two and dreamed of what those 352 likes would look like with YOUR name above them. Well, this morning I woke up 50 friend requests in a matter of hours. This was nothing compared to the morning that I had to sift through 150 friend requests. By the end of the day, I'll probably have 70-80 more to look over. It seems as though all of my best selfies can get over 100 likes in no time. Some of my funnier or more inspirational posts can easily rack up 25 likes in a matter of minutes. These statistics are NOTHING compared to some other, more popular, Facebook users...but how do they stack up against your numbers? The odds are, they're probably a little bit higher, and you probably want to know how to change that. Facebook fame isn't something you achieve overnight, but I'm going to share with you the first 3 secrets that you need to know, and you'll start seeing a change in your stats faster than you expect.
Tip #1: DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SEND FRIEND REQUESTS!
You can't make friends if you don't reach out. Facebook recommends that you not send friend requests to anyone you don't know personally, but that is just for safety reasons. If you were to end up being hacked or abducted, Facebook doesn't want a lawsuit to fall against them. Warning you is their way of washing their hands of the situation, because lets be honest here: The internet can be a very nasty place. I've had a few unpleasant encounters in the past couple of months. It's something that just comes along with having a larger following. If you really want to get your name (or your business's name) out there, you HAVE to start reaching out. The "People You May Know" list is a very fine place to start. This is generally a safer approach to making online friends. Eventually, you're going to have to add someone that you have no mutual with, so make sure you check their profile out completely before you hit that add friend button. Business owners, bloggers, and YouTubers seem to be the best people to start out with.
Tip #2: BE INSPIRATIONAL AND CONTROVERSIAL, BUT NOT HYPOCRITICAL OR PESSIMISTIC!
Say what's on your mind, but don't be a **** about it. If you have to choose between lifting someone up or putting someone down, always try to do the former. Controversial is okay. People have opinions, and there are some people that might not agree with yours, respect that, but controversial doesn't mean racist, sexist, homophobic, hypocritical, or just downright mean. You can agree or disagree with the zoo shooting the gorilla, but for the love of God don't turn into another Donald Trump and suggest we deport an entire community. People are going to say nasty things to you. They are going to call you names. They are going to disagree with you. They are going to ridicule you. They are going to criticize and judge you. Always try to face these trials with kindness. Remember: What comes around goes around. There was one incident recently where a VERY nasty person started calling me names in the comments of my posts, even threatening me. Quite a few of my followers jumped in to support me, and so many people reported the man that his profile was actually removed from Facebook. He isn't going to be able to harass anyone in that fashion anymore. Inspire people and stay kind, it will pay off in the future.
Tip #3: USE THE HASHTAGS - FOLLOW THE TRENDS!
I've noticed that even though hashtags are an option in Facebook posts, not many people choose to use them. This baffles me. USE THE HASHTAGS, PEOPLE! I know that they are more popular on Twitter and Instagram, but that is all the more reason to use them on Facebook! If less people are using them, you are more likely to show up in the search results when someone searches for the hashtag in question. Another thing that people don't seem to be paying much attention to is the trending topics that Facebook offers. Listen guys and gals, that little box isn't just for the news reporters to scroll through when they are looking for a juicy story. That box is for people like YOU and ME! Quit posting about what you're having for lunch every day, and start actually building up and interesting page that people will WANT to follow. Quit just sharing other people's pictures/ideas, and start writing about how you really feel. This is the place to express yourself...take advantage of that. Let people get to know you. If Selena Gomez is trending, go read a little bit on WHY then write your own little post. If you aren't interested in Selena Gomez, make that clear in a nice, respectable way, then say "but I would still like to give my opinion on..." You'll engage a conversation and that will make you more relevant. Facebook organizes news feeds by relevancy, not recents...so you need to stay relevant.
So, there you have it ladies and gentlemen...the first 3 steps to finding Facebook fame!

This is by far the best Tumbler set I have ever owned. In fact, this set is so nice that I have come to the conclusion I may even give it to my mother as a birthday gift in a few days. If you saw my last review on the previous version of this product, you'd know how much she loved the first one. So, here is how the Kersty Stainless Steel Tumbler set arrived at my doorstep this time around: Not too long ago, this set arrived in the mail. I was VERY excited, as I had been expecting it to arrive that day. I immediately opened up the packaging and took notice of how all the contents were perfectly in-tact and clean. It came in a beautifully designed box, and I could tell just by gripping the cup that it was going to be very useful for me in the upcoming days.
The next day, I had planned to stay home and work on some of my online writing gigs. So, sitting in bed without the energy to do much of anything, I decided to try out my new little gadget. I went to the kitchen and fixed some hot coffee, and then poured it in the tumbler just like I would any other cup or coffee mug. I sealed up the BPA-FREE lid, slid back the plastic sliding top, and put in the stainless steel straw that was included in the set. My bedroom stays at 68 degrees F, but my coffee stayed nice and hot for the entirety of my morning schedule. It had passed my first test with flying colors.
Another day later, I decided to put this set to the ultimate test. I had washed it (everything was still looking and working nicely) and I had tried out the cleaning brush that was included (which I fell in love with), so I wanted to see how well this tumbler could travel. I had some errands I needed to run, so I went about my daily life as normal, coffee in hand like every other fast-paced day. When I arrived home that afternoon, I realized I hadn't spilled a drop of my drink. I had been in the car, briskly walking down the sidewalk, balancing the tumbler set in one hand while I dug through my purse to find my credit card, and never once had it spilled. The second test was over, and the tumbler was still going strong.
The bottom line is: I love this newer version of the Stainless Steel tumbler just as much as I loved the first version, if not even more! From the time I open up the delivery box to see the colorful, sparkling, beautiful, original box that the tumbler arrives in, to the time I am done drinking from it and add it to the list of dishes that need to be washed, it does everything you could ever want a tumbler to do...perfectly. It's heavy duty enough that you're not going to easily tip or blow it over, you can put any type of liquid in it that you desire, and you're not going to easily spill your drinks. However, it is lightweight enough that you're not going to have any trouble carrying around while you're out walking the dog or window shopping, driving down the road, or sitting in the office.
You'll never have to worry about liquid spilling down your chin and onto your nice outfits, because the straw that comes with the tumbler fits perfectly, and the lid to the tumbler has a sliding feature that locks to straw in place. You'll never have to worry about not being able to clean the straw properly and allowing germs to build up, because the set comes with a special cleaner specifically for the straw. It is easy to use, and it is very efficient in cleaning. The bristles have a good texture to them, and the handle is bendable so it bends with the curve of the straw. You don't have to try and clean the straw from both ends because the cleaning brush wouldn't bend.
The makers of this tumbler set seriously thought of EVERYTHING tat their customers might want or need!

**Warning: There Are SPOILERS**
Comic book lovers and Joker fangirls have been anticipating the release of this one-of-a-kind film for over a year. The theater was packed on opening night. In fact, even by arriving an hour early for the show, we still weren't the first to show up to sit and wait. This was the first Big-Screen Harley Quinn that the world has seen, and it didn't take much longer than a few seconds past the opening credits to fall in love with her. Will Smith performed spectacularly as DeadShot. He mastered the art of sarcasm...keeping the audience in stitches throughout the film. Jared Leto was almost too-Jokery to be the Joker, in my opinion, but that just goes to show how dedicated to the role he truly was. Viola Davis was fearless and untouchable from beginning to end, clearly a perfect match for the role of Amanda Walker. All of the characters were true to their comic book origins, but also very loveable and movie-audience-friendly. There was humor, but it was far outweighed by the action, which was to be expected and admired. Overall this film was a crowd pleaser, despite the terrible critic reviews. In fact, the movie was so epic, I returned to the same theater two days later to watch it for a second time!
Joker and Harley are known to have one of the most complicated, twisted, complex relationships of...well...all time. Joker is also known to be very abusive to Harley Quinn. He's manipulative, damaging, and degrading. I have a strong feeling this wouldn't have transferred well onto the movie screen...although, I also believe that is the main reason the movie received such poor critic reviews. The Joker is supposed to be out-of-his-mind abusive to the love of his life...not drop everything just to rescue her from the prison she's been locked in. However, most people (including me) are able to see a lot of themselves in the personality of the Joker and Harley, so they look up to the loving relationship between the two crazy kids and appreciated the lack of violence. "I've got a grape soda on ice and a bearskin rug waiting" is much more appealing than "I hope you die" or anything along those lines would have been. However, the director didn't stray all the way from the original comics. The Joker is seen intentionally driving a car into a body of water while Harley screams that she can't swim, then leaving her to drown, where Batman rscues/arrests her. Of course, the Joker is human just like anyone else, and he is going to make selfish decisions...he's even crazy enough to risk the life of Harley due to his selfishness, but he is also seen rescuing her from the harsh chemicals that she throws herself into. Amanda Walker even takes a moment to acknowledge "They were the King and Queen of Gotham City...and God help anyone who disrespected the Queen." This was the type of Joker/Harley relationship that the crowd wanted to see...and that's exactly what they got.
The soundtrack for the movie? It was better than anyone imagined. Walking out of theater, I actually heard multiple people commenting on how much they enjoyed the music. In fact, I've downloaded all of the songs from the soundtrack onto my laptop, and I plan on listening to the playlist during my workouts, or even during my relaxation time. Shrillex, Lil Wayne, Twenty One Pilots, Eminem, Panic! At The Disco covering a Queen song, Creedence Clearwater, and so many more big names added up to a 5-star soundtrack like never before. I knew from the opening credits with "House of the Rising Sun" that this action-packed film was going to be one for the record books.
I could say so much more about this precious little gem...but I think I'm going to let you watch it for yourself. In conclusion, the only thing that upset me about this movie is that Harley Quinn made me want to buy an Espresso machine, and she looks better in pigtails than I do.
